How we check facts
Each fact names its source and its date. When two sources disagree, we show both. When a firm has not published a number, we say so.
Sources we use
Profiles are built from each firm's own website and filings, press releases, reputable news and public reference sites. Sources are listed at the bottom of each profile, each with its date. Counts and rankings from third-party reports are shown with credit.
What the labels mean
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Confirmed by two sources | Two independent sources give the same figure. |
| Single source | One source gives the figure. Usually the firm itself. |
| Reported by Aranca | A named third party reports the figure, for example a research report. The chip names the source. |
| Estimate | An approximate figure, labelled as one. |
| Not disclosed by the firm | The firm has not published this figure. |
When sources disagree
Each profile has a section called "What different sources say". It puts the figures side by side, each with its source. We do not pick a winner unless a primary source settles it.
Fund sizes measure different things
A headline size always carries a label for what it counts. Sizes with different labels are not comparable.
- AUM or capital under management
- Cumulative invested
- Single fund
- Annual allocation
- Announced program or target
What we leave out
We name people only by their public professional role. We do not use logos or photos of firms. Quotes, where used, are short, credited and linked. If we cannot state a fact neutrally with a source and a date, we leave it out.
How often we recheck
Each profile shows the date it was last checked. We aim to recheck the most active firms every 90 days and the rest every 180 days.
Corrections
If something is wrong or out of date, use the correction form or email Richard@CorporateVentureCapital.com. We check the change against an official source before we publish it.
